Reverend James Edward Dunn

The Reverend James Edward Dunn is a native of Eutaw, Alabama.  He later moved to Chicago, Illinois with his family.  He graduated from Morgan Park High School, where he focused on business and was Battalion Commander in the Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps. 

Reverend Dunn earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Restaurant Management from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, IL (1979), and a Master of Divinity Degree from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in Lombard, IL (2007).  He also earned the following certificates:  Mediation Skills Training Institute for Church Leaders Certificate from the Lombard Mennonite Peace Center, Lombard, IL (2004); and Clinical Pastoral Education Equivalency Certificate from Family Centered Hospice, Addison, IL (2007).  

Reverend Dunn was called to preach God’s Word in May 2000.  He was licensed at Greater Tabernacle Holiness Missionary Baptist Church in June 2000 and was ordained there in September 2001.  Prior to his calling to preach the Gospel, he served in the following church-related capacities:

• Member of the Board of Deacons at Greater Tabernacle M.B. Church

• Chairperson of the Board of Directors at Greater Tabernacle M.B. Church

• Sunday School Superintendent at Greater Tabernacle M.B. Church

• Member of the Luis Palau Evangelistic Crusade Chicago (1996) and Chang Mai, Thailand (1997)

• Bible Study Leader for The Navigators, a Christian organization, on the campuses of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, IL; and, Illinois State University in Normal, IL

He integrates over 25 years of management and administration experiences into his call to ministry.  Currently, Reverend Dunn serves as Director of Christian Education, overseeing 17 ministries; and as Director of Evangelism at Saint John Church-Baptist in Chicago, IL.

Reverend Dunn married Jan S. (Blair) Dunn in June 1984, and they are the parents of two sons.  Reverend Dunn lives to do “all” to the glory of God.
